At FarmingIT we have a custom made soil coring rig, which is capable of pulling soil cores from up to 1.3m deep.

Our rig uses a hydraulic hammer to drive a 40mm chrome molybdenum coring tube directly into the ground with no rotary drilling action.

This means that the resultant core emerges undisturbed, unless the soil is dry enough to shatter or wet enough to slump.

  Uses for this corer include:

 * Ground truthing of EM surveys

 * Identifying hostile subsoils

 * Measuring depth of soil horizons and root zone

 * Soil available water measurements

 * "Deep N" nitrate sampling

 * Installation of EnviroSCAN and neutron probe access tubes
