The adcon solution comprises an RTU such as this A755:
This is a self contained datalogger, modem and battery. It can be powered by a small solar panel.

This RTU has two pulse counters for connecting sensors such as rain collectors or water meters, it also has an industry standard SDI-12 interface which means that any combination of up to 40 SDI-12 sensors can be connected.
Sensors include:
Wind speed
Wind direction
Temperature
Humidity
Air pressure
Solar radiation
Leaf wetness
Soil moisture
Soil temperature

With the Davis Instruments Wireless Vantage Pro 2 station you get everything you need to start monitoring rainfall, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, temperature and humidity outdoors, and the temperature and humidity indoors. The image below shows the complete kit.
Adding the optional Weather Link data logger and software enables the receiving console to be connected to your PC to download logged data, produce graphs and charts, and even upload your data to the internet.
Other options include soil temperature and moisture stations, and leaf wetness sensors.
