Early start – not quite in time to catch the sunrise
but in plenty of time to climb Ayers
Rock in the morning coolness. The
rock is as awesome as ever, although I’m sure that there were twice as
many people this time! The climb was also harder than I remembered!
As Fred said, I’m carrying more weight than I did 9 years ago!
Explored the visitors centre. Very interesting and well though out displays. Stopped for morning coffee and pie before heading out to the Olgas (Kata Tjuta), a beautiful range of rounded hills/rocks. Had a fantastic amble around the Valley of the Winds walk. Beautiful wildflowers but no wind. Had picnic lunch before leaving the National Park. Camped at Curtin Springs free bush camping and arrived early enough to cook roast beef with roast veg in the camp oven. Only horseradish and yorkshire puddings missing! |
