Left Old onslow and ‘ghosts’ and travelled to Karratha.

Landrover has developed a loud clunk when steering.  Fred investigated and declared that the ball joints are “f*!?*d” and the bolt through the pan-hard rod bush appears to be sloppy.  Called into Landrover place.  He confirmed suspicions and said to come back Monday when his parts bloke is in.  Revised schedule accordingly.

Called in at Tourist office to find out where to obtain Permit to use Hammersly Iron railway road – Dampier.  Office opens between 9-10 Sat and Sunday.

Travelled out towards Dampier and detoured up the Burrip Peninsular.  Sealed road ends at the North West Gas Project – large industrial area for handling gas from offshore platforms.  4WD tracks continue up the peninsular through the conservation area.  Drove to Mount Burrup and I scrambled to the top for great views of the gas works and the peninsular tip.  We then found the track to ‘lands end’ and followed it.  Some exciting 4wd moments including some interesting rock hopping.  We stopped playing when it looked as if we were running out of light and set off towards Dampier Transit Caravan Park.
