Walked into the main part of Mahabaleshwar and explored
the Bazaar. We were lucky
that today was the weekly
fruit and veg market. It
was very colourful with many exotic vegetables but not so many fruits.
The quality was excellent compared to the markets that we have
seen in other towns. Extremely
fresh – no limp or wilted produce here.
Back in the main Bazaar, we eventually found shop that could sell us a map of the area (easier said than done, Indians don’t seem to use maps). We sat down with a cold drink to plan our walk. We had a very enjoyable stroll down quiet wooded lanes and footpaths that took us the long way back to our hotel. The path followed the edge of an escarpment for part of the way and the views were fantastic. It also took us past Chinaman’s Falls; great views but I guess that the Falls are only worth seeing during and after the monsoon. |
