Drove the windy road rising up out of the Plains to the
Hill Station of Mahabeleshwar, in the Western Ghats. The height of 1327m does moderate the heat and we past many
strawberry farms on the way. Sadly,
it looked as if they were only in flower and not in fruit.
We arrived at lunchtime.
Fred’s stomach threatened to overload his anal sphincter so he dozed for the rest of the afternoon to relieve the pressure (perhaps one too many vegetarian curries!), while I reworked our route plan (consensus of opinion is that we’ve seen enough forts, ruined cities, moghul architecture… to last a lifetime – I’ve scratched Bijapur and Hampi from the itinerary and we’re heading straight to the beach to recuperate). Very unusual that Fred is actually requesting to go the the Beach! |
