(Our first wedding anniversary) Snowed again overnight. Not too much in the city, but at least 6-12 inches in the country. Left Frankfurt at a reasonable time and drove towards Georg’s at Zweibrucken. Driving conditions were interesting as there was still a lot of slush/snow on the Autobahns and it was intermittantly very sunny and very foggy (not to mention the spray). Everything is beautiful in the snow (if you don’t have to concentrate on driving). I think we difinitely need a tobogan. Stopped for fuel and brunch at an excellent truckstop (extremely good, reasonably priced food). Arrived at Georg’s around 2ish (rang the doorbell on the flat above for a while first – fortunately no one was in!). On arrival, we were introduced to Georg and Monike’s more recent additions – Florien (14 months) and Sara (3 weeksish). Georg and Fred caught up with Silsoe talk and the fact that they would shortly be moving to the States over coffee, while Florien continually reminded us that both coffee and candles are hot (Heiβ, Heiβ!) – he doesn’t say much else yet. We packaged up the kids and took them for a walk to view the town and the Christmas Market – where we paused for Gluhwein. Monicke cooked a delicious curry for dinner, after which we went to check into our hotel. |
