Monday 20 December

Met Georg at 9ish for a tour of the John Deere factory.  It was very good of him because he is actually taking holiday at the moment.  I’ll leave a space for Fred’s description of the factory.

Fred: We saw lots of large green and yellow combines and other agricultural machinary.

Met up with Ryan just before we left the factory.  He’s been travelling internationally and is back for just 1 (well ½ ) day before going back to Scotland for Christmas.  We headed to Strasbourg after saying farewell to Georg.  Checked into a motel to dump stuff and then headed into the town centre to find a laudromat.  Parking is interesting as all of the main carparks are underground with limited head room.  Found street parking near Laverie Automatique (quite by chance that the two tied up).  Washing is rather expensive here (total of £8.60 to wash and dry clothes).

Wandered around town while waiting for washing.  Beautiful old houses and buildings.  Very pretty with Christmas Lights.  Water everywhere (central part is an island).  Dropped washing off and then came back in for Dinner.  Found what looked to be a good but rather busy restaurant and were dumped in the back room.  Ended up waiting for more than ½ an hour before we were even asked if we would like a drink!  The table next to us had been waiting for over ¾ hour.  Very good food, despite appalling service.  After dinner we explored the city a little more while meandering back towards the car.
