Spent the morning updating website.
Went into town in the afternoon and found internet café.
Took 1 hour to upload – vast improvement over Indian speeds,
however, cost has also increased to AU$10 per hour (it only costs us $12
per hour for surfing offpeak with the mobile!).
Fred bought some spares and gave Lari a service, as well as sorting out the fan belt – it would appear that Brookwells supplied us with a dud! Had difficulties tracking down an open Fast Food place in evening. When we found Chicken Treat – it had run out of chicken! And now for a word from Fred: “Night before last we went out looking for a take away to bring back to our campsite. We ambled down the main street, around a bit, and into the only pub that looked like it wasn't last decorated in time for the last gold rush. Last night we thought to ourselves that there MUST be a take away somewhere, and set forth, this time in the Landrover, to find it. Twice round town and we found a closed Pizza Express, and the most innapropriately named "Chicken Treat". We both felt like a treat, but somehow weren't sure that this joint was going to quite deliver the goods. We went in anyway- it was either that or back to the same pub for another deep-fried-frozen something. It was a treat alright. I haven't had a laugh like that in ages. They had run out of chicken. Can you believe it? The only fast-food in town, sells out of it's only ingredient. Fortunately the drive through bottle shop did have some beer left, so we had a mainly hydraulic tea based on the Wests finest : Emu Bitter.” |
