Continued through the dune systems.
No worries over the soft sand but we are travelling in the ‘easy’
direction. Met two vehicles
travelling in other direction. Had
a good chat – no worries for track conditions.
Soon after, we met a couple of Landcruisers also travelling in
the other direction. They
reckoned that they were having a terrible time of it – bogged on every
dune. They were certainly
making a heck of a mess of the track!
We had a go at some of the really steep dunes in the opposite
direction and had no problems despite our rather excessive weight!
Country changed the other side of the Knolls track junction – different trees and dune formations and intermittent clay pans and salt lakes. Passed by Poeppels Corner – the meeting point of Northern Territory, South Australia and Queensland. Camped ½ km from the corner in NT and cooked quiche for tomorrows lunch. |
