Shopped for groceries before setting out on the 4WD track. Had a play on an area of huge sand dunes set aside for vehicles – just to see what Larry could achieve. We were impressed! We could go most places without too many problems. Surprising, seeing how heavy we are!

Set off on the drive to Cervantes, following the instructions in our guidebook. Off roading and scenary interesting but not too challenging. Navigation more of a challenge as the area is criss-crossed by unmarked tracks. Checked out the beach conditions and decided that tide and soft sand would not permit beach travel. Found beautiful spot in dunes behind the beach. Stopped for lunch and decided to set up camp. Spent rest of day lazing in sun, walking up beach. Even went for a swim. The water is pretty cold! Slept on campbeds under the stars. Beautiful clear night. Stars fantastic. Could see the milky way. Breeze a little chilly though.
