Investigated the road to Kalgan Pool but decided that the route through was still rather wet. 

Set off down gravel roads to Nullagine – small mining town, where we refuelled and set off on the alternative route ot Marble Bar, via Skull Springs Road.  Beautiful drive.  Originally a gravel road, but now abandoned to be a 4WD track.  Many washouts and creek crossings and one very boggy patch (with no winch points) – but no major problems and no mess!  Just as well – this is the ‘real outback’ a long way from anywhere. 

Camped at a beautiful spot beside the river.  We think it was Ell Pool (Running Waters) as it was in roughly the right place.  Heaps of mozzies – had to blitz with DEET.  Thousands of dead midge things in the lantern and vehicle strip light!
