Had an early morning snorkel (Fred wimped out – but had
a hot cup of tea waiting for me). Fantastic
snorkel – saw many more fish – including a fairly large white tipped
reef shark! Upped camp and
snorkled our way down the coast. Well,
we drove most of it but stopped at various sites. It was still extremely windy but the outer reef provided
shelter so it wasn’t too choppy in the bays.
Turquoise Bay provided far and away the best snorkelling. Fantastic coral, many, many different types of fish and even a turtle! Beautiful. When we had tired ourselves out from swimming, we stopped for a spot of lunch and then followed the walking trail around Mandu Mandu gorge. Drove down to Yardie Creek to see if we could cross – too much water so revised plans. Drove back up the coast to a lovely, sheltered campsite – Pilgrimunna. Attempted an afternoon snorkel, but state of tide/wind meant that it was uncomfortable choppy and low visibility. |
