Set out with the intention of walking out to
Surveyors Pool (well, driving most of the way and walking the last 4km
in). Fairly rough track,
rocky with some wahsouts. Very
overgrown – grass taller than the roofrack.
The area hasn’t been burnt for a while.
Arrived at the carpark. There
was a shiny new sign at the start of the walk pointing you into a wall
of grass, taller than myself. Pushing
through this, we found the start of a track which soon petered out into
a huge washout. It was very
windy and there was a great deal of smoke in the air, so we decided to
leave the walk for another time.
Returned to main track and continued in the direction of Port Warrender and Walsh Point. Track became very interesting, perhaps challenging. Steep washouts galore. Eventually found the coast and discovered that keen fishermen had been mad enough to bring boat trailers in! We inspected tyres at lunch time and noticed some fair sized gashes in side walls. One of Michaels tyres was just on its way down as we drew back into camp |
