Thursday 23 December |
Left Dijon in the direction of Clermont-Ferrand and
headed through wine-growing country.
Big chateaux and vines cover the area for as far as you can see.
The valleys are all full of smoke as the prunings are burnt on
each little patcha nd there is no wind to disperse it.
Travelled through Vichy (and got vaguely lost) – a fairly
non-descript town.
Arrived in Clermont and pootled into the city centre and wandered up and down the hill on narrow pedestrian back street. The big, black-stone cathedral on the hill was impressive. We wandered in and listened to a christmas rehersal for a while. When we’d had enough of the town centre, we headed back to the motel and ate within walking distance so that we could both have a drink with our meal. |
