Left Deventer this morning (popped out to the shops first thing for candles to leave as a pressie – Thuy has a thing for candles). We headed South East towards Germany and out to countryside and some hills! Travelled winding roads through snow-covered forests. Beautiful. Ferbie had his first experience in the snow. Found a great parking spot in the woods, complete with picnic bench (buried under 3 inches of snow). Spent our first night in mainland Europe camping in the back of the truck. Temperature was down to –2.5oC (or less) but 1 duvet was sufficient to keep us toasty warm in the back. The vents seem to have more or less solved the condensation problem (although front and back still get pretty wet and run into the mattress). Cooking on the tailgate probably doesn’t help the condensation as all of the steam goes straight into the back. More snow fell overnight. |
