Fred treated me to a slap-up birthday breakfast buffet at
the Holiday Inn. Cereal,
pancakes, syrup, hashbrowns, curry, doughnuts, pastries!
He then took me shopping and I found two beautiful sets of
extremely comfortable shalwar chemise (wander around Bedford or Luton
looking for people wearing pyjamas).
We had to leave both sets at the shop to be made smaller (or in
the case of one – to be made from scratch).
We explored town on foot and at 2:30 picked up a minibus tour (Adventure n Culture Tour Operators: www.brain.net.pk/~actos) of some of the local attractions. We had the bus, and tour guides to ourselves. Business is apparently slack at the moment. We visited the Shalimar gardens, the old walled city and bazaar, Shahi Hammam – originally the Royal Baths, now a tourist info office, Wazir Khans mosque and the Golden Mosque. Great tour, excellent and informative guides. In fact, we liked it so much that we decided to stay for tomorrows morning tour as well. (Fred’s comment for the day: “Jo looks very old and wrinkly no she’s 28”). Thanks! |
