Had to go to the bank before we could pay our hotel bill! The bank opposite the hotel did not change foreign currency. Neither did the next few that we tried. Bank mentioned by Lonely Planet had changed location. Finally found one willing to change Dollars to rupees. Very friendly bank manager provided interesting chat, tea and an extremely advantageous exchange rate! Armed with a fistful of cash we returned to the hotel and checked out, to set forth on the long and fairly uneventful journey to Lahore. Found reasonably priced hotel (Hotel Amer – www.amerhotel.com.pk) with parking – the landrover had its own garage and two armed guards.
