Set out to explore Prague (Praha), leaving the vehicle at the campsite.  We found the nearest tram and bus stops without a problem – but could we find anywhere that was open and selling tickets?!  In the end we walked a couple of km to the nearest Metro line (with our rucksacs of dirty washing on our backs) and found an automatic ticket machine.  We didn’t have enough change for 2 x 24 hour tickets and so resoted to buying coffee to obtain coins.  Incidentally, coffee is served containing grounds – there seems to be an art to seiving the grounds through your teeth or making them settle.

We found Laudry Land, waited for ages for two free working machines – Fred had to fix the catch on one of them (all were domestic washing machines!) and shoved the clothes in.  The cycle time of 1 ˝ hours gave us plenty of time to explore the centre around Wenceslas Square and snatch a bite to eat.  We returned briefly to shove everything in the dryer, before exploring furhter and then returning once more to fold  and pack clothes – left them there to pick up before heading to campsite last thing.

Finally, a decent length of time in which to explore the beautiful ‘very touristy’ parts, including Prague Castle and the surrounding district and Charles Bridge.  Unfortunately, by the time we were over the bridge it was too dark for photographs.  We also found an internet café and went to use e-mail and check out the reported problems with the website.  It seems to have had an intemittant problem that has become permanent!  We could not even FTP into it.  Tried e-mailing easyspace support and web master – came back as unknown e-mail address!  Will think about shifting it to BT.

Spent too long in the café and had to rush back to Wenceslas Square for a concert in the National Museum – a trio (violin, cello and piano) playing a selection from Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart and Dvorak.  Excellent.  The musicians played on an area part way up the museum stair and the audience sat on cushions on the next flight of stairs, adding to the atmosphere.
