Tuesday 7 March 2000

Left the peace and quiet of the bird sanctuary and drove to Jaipur, heading steadily away from continuously irrigated agriculture into a drier and more marginal type of farming.  Arrived at Jaipur at lunch time.  The Jaipur Inn (http://www.indiamart.com/jaipurinn/) has a washing machine!  It costs an extortionate 100 rupees (£1.50) to use it – more than at Silsoe!  But it is a lot easier than handwashing.  We have also asked if we can plug our laptop into their telephone system and they can bill us for the call time.  This will not be a problem as long as we wait until after 9pm when the phones and fax is quieter.  Suits us as the ISPs should be less busy then.  In preparation, I have assimilated the last couple of days of photos and diary and have, again, updated the website.
