Drove out to see Lake
Argyll which provides the water for the irrigation scheme in
Kununurra. More recently, a
hydro electric power scheme
has been initiated to supply electricity to Kununurra and the Argyll
Diamond mine. The lake is
vast – I think that it was formed by flooding a 1 million acre cattle
station. We missed the times for the boat tours, so we stuck to the
road and scenic lookouts.
Back in Kununurra we attempted to find a flight that would be able to take us to the UK for Granny and Grandpas 60th Wedding Anniversary celebrations in September – this proved rather tricky because of the Sydney Olympic games. In the end, we left it with the travel agent to see what she could do. |
